About

Hi, I'm the founder of Onlooker, (formerly JWP) I've rebranded as Onlooker to reflect the true nature of the work I love doing: documenting and experiencing the world around us and helping clients impart key messages and stories that bring their brands to life.

Mission

We are onlooker by name and onlooker by nature - we film events, promotional films commercials, video marketing materials such as EPKS's and BTS.

I can operate as a self shooter and producer or with my team of freelance camera crew or editors who help me when needed.

Vision

I started out in the video industry way back in the 1990's when my dad who was a photographer, asked me to film wedding videos. After college I worked for video producer Tom Gordon who made videos for Dorling Kindersely with the likes of Johnny Morris and a load of animals on a set!

Soon after that I was working for commercials production company - Howard Guard Productions, in London.

After a couple of years learning to load film into a camera and production assisting on large scale commercials I stepped out on my own with one of the first 'miniDV' cameras and soon got my first commission to film the building of the ABN / AMRO bank, now Natwest HQ in Bishopgate London. I ended creating a series of films showing the building and was often suspended from a crane over the city! The film was used to promote the project during the topping out ceremony and I created my first live stream to the audience on the ground, from the topping out ceremony on the top floor.

I started working for PR companies such as Weber Shandwick and for clients such Siemens, Unilever and Pfizer filming product launches around the globe, as a self-shooter - meaning I would film the event and edit myself back in my office in Primrose Hill.

A big break came when I was asked to film the Fashion Rocks event in Monaco when I was rubbing shoulders with Jon Bon Jovi, Tommy Hilfigger and Anna Wintour whom of course asked for a soundbite from!

During the advent of live TV and video uploading sites like Youtube I set up an online TV channel for Swarovski, making a variety of arts programmes across the globe often with multiple camera crews and editors.

Using my experience working in PR and making promotional films I have recently filmed video marketing films for client, EPK's for broadcasters and the odd short form documentary along the way.
